Menace, Morgellons & Deadlock Live at Suburbs, Guildford

Sat 10th February 2018

Suburbstheholroyd / Brainwave Music presents….

Menace were formed in 1976 when school friends Noel Martin, Charlie Casey and Steve Tannett met Morgan Webster…The rest is history.

Taking the post-punk blueprint of bands like Joy Division and Magazine, the frozen intensity of early Banshees, and the art-school nihilism of the Velvet Underground to the Stooges, Morgellons have created a sound that has a relevance and urgency that marks them out as something different from their peers.
The first album ‘The Memory Of Echoes’ on Flicknife Records received extremely positive reviews, including a 9/10 rating in Vive Le Rock magazine.
The new album ‘Morgellons’ will be a benchmark in post-punk music, and a future rock classic. An indication that a genuinely original and exciting new band has arrived.
Morgellons are:
Vincent Mahon – Vocals
Mark Geraghty – Bass
Josh Pinto – Guitar
Mannie Zerafa – Drums

Deadlock performed a series of riotous gigs around Surrey and Hampshire before disbanding in 1981. A few home-made cassettes and grainy photos are the only record of those days. 30 years later, the band reconvened with the idea of finally recording the songs, initially on guitarist Paul’s home studio. The demos are on the music page of this site. Reunion gigs followed in 2012, and again in 2014. By 2015 the band were starting to gig regularly, and to write new material.
In November 2015, things really started happening: a support slot with the UK Subs; a demo track featuring on the Covermount CD of monthly magazine Vive Le Rock; and time in a studio recording two tracks for a single on their own label.
For 2016 the name Deadlock UK was adopted.
The first album, Speeding Along, was released in April.
