Birthday Fest – Kamikaze Girls / Dream Nails / Kermes & more

Sat 02nd March 2019
@ Wharf Chambers - Leeds

Kicking off a week of celebrations for International Women’s Day – what’s a better way to start than with our birthday party?!

We’re so excited to celebrate two years of Girl Gang Leeds – we’ve had a blast and we’re sharing our birthday party with some of our favourite bands at Wharf Chambers.

Join us for a full day of feminist/queer punk, birthday cake and party vibes.

KAMIKAZE GIRLS // DREAM NAILS // KERMES // CHEERBLEEDERZ // PEACH CLUB // ILL // FRESH // CRUMBS // VENUS // TEA LEAF

Tickets £10 in advance through Eventbrite, Jumbo Records and Crash Records (or buy from us in person to avoid booking fee!)

KAMIKAZE GIRLS //
We’re dragging our pals Lucinda and Conor back to Leeds to reaffirm that it’s okay to be sad – even on our birthday. Their striking, noisy and honest alt-rock duo will be a memorable end to a very special night.

DREAM NAILS //
Our absolute fave punk witches are back to cause a scene at Wharf Chambers with us again. One of the most important punk bands out there – they’re bringing women and non-binary people to the front with lyrics on bodily autonomy, politics and doing it yourself.

KERMES //
Leicester 4-piece Kermes show us what queer punk is all about – expect a super-fun set with songs about dysphoria and wanting to die. Most likely to break all the equipment.

CHEERBLEEDERZ //
Your new favourite band – featuring members from Fresh and Happy Accidents, we’re excited to host one of Cheerbleederz first live shows. A trio of total indie-pop dream babes.

PEACH CLUB //
Norwich riot grrrls Peach Club bring the feminist punk energy with songs about gross band dudes, privilege and sexism. Like a new, trendy Bikini Kill for 2019.

ILL //
Manchester-based feminist post-punks ILL are like that weird goth cousin we weren’t sure whether to invite… guaranteed to defy expectations with their self-confessed weird, funny, sinister and surreal set. Witness the illness.

FRESH (ACOUSTIC) //
An unplugged set from the freshest of DIY punks – expect less shredding than usual but possibly even more emo.
https://freshpunks.bandcamp.com/

CRUMBS //
Local dreambabes Crumbs bring relatable content from anxiety to heartbreak in a neat post-punk pop-party pack.

VENUS //
New to the punk scene are Venus, the 5-piece girl gang from Leeds. Expect riotous energy and feminist vibes – one to keep your eyes on.

TEA LEAF //
A beautiful way to start the day; expect emotional and honest songwriting about depression and loneliness.
