Broken Bones – Dead and Gone EP Review

Monday, March 23, 2015 - PUNX.UK

If you’ve not heard of Broken Bones then I strongly suggest you get your coat and leave quietly by the nearest exit because the Stoke-on-Trent based hardcore punk outfit have just released a new EP entitled Dead and Gone. Not only that but it’s limited to only 200 copies so you’d best get a move on if you want one. With four tracks on the EP entitled: Trend on Me, Vigilante, Dead and Gone and a rerecording of the classic City Fodder this gives a good taste of what this latest line up are capable of and it should have the Pentagon worried. This is J.J.’s debut since taking over vocal duties after parting ways with Wasted Life in 2014 and Broken Bones first release since 2010’s Fuck You and All You Stand For! The primary strategic strike of the EP comes from Trend on Me and D-Beat desolation quickly ensues, so grab your loved ones and dive for the nearest cover. This sounds as if it could grind your grandmother up and feed her to you in a pâté. A firm punch of hardcore punk to the gut and something to get excited about. Broken Bones have always had an uncompromising noise and this is still clearly apparent here, the EP sounds like a nuclear power station going in to meltdown. The band have obviously quickly gelled into one fully functional death machine and the nuclear sub of HMS Broken Bones is now sailing into waters nationwide to rain down hardcore punk terror. Keep vigilant for the warning siren in your town and remember what to do when you hear that four minute warning. Broken Bones have been igniting their very own firestorm of punk for a very long time now, but it seems these flames are far from extinguished, so let’s cry havoc and bring on a new album.
